UPDATED MARCH 17, 2020

Planes of Fame announced today, March 17, the temporary closure of the museum until at least April 30 in an effort to slow the spread of novel coronavirus.  Moreover, we have canceled all public events through the end of  April in an effort to respond to the need for social distancing. The safety of our staff, volunteers, members, and visitors is of paramount concern.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)

Q. When will the Planes of Fame be open to the public?

A. The Planes of Fame is actively monitoring the latest in the COVID-19 Novel Coronavirus outbreak through updates via the Center for Disease Control, California Department of Public Health, and the San Bernardino County Department of Public Health. The current plan is reopen to the public April 30, but this is a fluid situation that is being evaluated on a daily basis in order to continue to ensure the safety of everyone associated with the museum. Because this is a fluid situation we ask that you visit our website or our social media platforms before visiting. As always please engage with information from public health agencies and plan your activities using your own best judgement.

Q. Are group gatherings and events being canceled?

A. Planes of Fame is postponing all museum gatherings until future notice including; Living History Flying Days, Kilroy Coffee Klatch meetings, group tours, volunteer work days, and our 6th Annual Hangar Dance that was scheduled for March 21. We plan to continue assessing the situation and provide updates as the weeks progress moving forward into April and beyond.

Q. Is the March 21 Hangar Dance being canceled?

A. As of today, the March 21 Hangar Dance is canceled. Anyone who has purchased tickets may transfer their ticket to our September 26th Hangar Dance or request a refund. Please email info@planesoffame.org to request your refund/credit. All refund requests must be in writing.

Q. May I continue to volunteer at the museum?

A. The Planes of Fame volunteer program is currently on hold until further notice. We recognize that our volunteer events are an important source of community, especially amidst the circumstances. We urge everyone to take the necessary health and safety precautions as we continue to support and encourage one another. This decision was not taken lightly and we look forward to seeing everyone back at the museum as soon as we are able to have you!

Q. If I previously purchased tickets to an event that is now canceled, will I receive a refund?

A. Any patron that has purchased tickets directly from Planes of Fame may request a refund or credit to a future event. Please email info@planesoffame.org to request your refund/credit.

Q. I have an event booked through the museum facility rental, will it be canceled?

A. Please contact your event coordinator for more information.

Q. I have a group tour booked, will it be canceled?

A. Please contact you tour coordinator for more information.

Q: Does the Planes of Fame have masks upon request?

A: The official advice from medical experts and local health agencies is that masks are only beneficial if the person wearing it is already sick. Most face masks do not protect people from catching the virus from someone else. The Planes of Fame’s policy is that if an employee or volunteer is feeling unwell we recommend that person stay home.

Q. Is it safe to travel to San Bernardino? Should I cancel my travel plans while I still can?

A. At this time, the risk in San Bernardino remains low but this is a fluid situation that is quickly evolving. Please refer to your local travel authority’s guidelines regarding travel outside of your area.

Q. Should I travel to San Bernardino if there have been confirmed cases in my home community?

A: Please refer to your local travel authority’s guidelines regarding travel outside of your area.
