PLANES OF FAME AIR MUSEUM VALLE, ARIZONA FACILITY CLOSED TO PUBLIC VIEWING

PLANES OF FAME AIR MUSEUM PRESS RELEASE ⏐ February 9, 2023

The Planes of Fame Air Museum has announced that its Valle, Arizona (aka Planes of Fame Grand Canyon) facility is closed to the visiting public.  The facility, which opened in 1995 and housed an assortment of aircraft and historical memorabilia, has been converted to a facility for “return to flight” restoration.

Artifacts, memorabilia, and other items have been transferred to the Chino headquarters location.  Many of these items will be placed on public display at the Chino facility.  Others will be held in storage and possibly put on display at the Museum’s new expansion facility being constructed at the Santa Maria Airport in Santa Maria, California when that facility opens.

Questions or inquiries about the Planes of Fame Arizona facility can be directed via email to Brian Finnegan at brian.finnegan@planesoffame.org.

Every day at Planes of Fame Air Museum, you can experience history - both the reliving of it and the making of it. When one of our planes flies, for most it is a rare and wonderful thing to witness. Planes of Fame Air Museum has maintained a fleet of flyable historic aircraft for over 60 years! The Museum has operated these types of aircraft longer than the Army Air Corps or Air Force did. Planes of Fame Air Museum truly is where aviation history lives.

You too can experience history through Planes of Fame Air Museum. Maybe you live too far to visit, but we hope this website gives you a taste of what we try to do here every day. And maybe someday, you will hear the roar, look up in the sky and see one of our planes overhead!

“Thank you to all staff and volunteers for your hard work and dedication to preserving aviation heritage. I enjoyed the air show with my family and must commend you all for putting on a great show. The event was well run and a pleasure to attend. Great job!”

“The air show was very well organized... and was made to look simple. A lot of hard work was obviously put in by all involved. I won't mention it all, but we enjoyed everything we saw at Airshow 2009!”

“Just a quick note of thanks to Ed Maloney, Steve Hinton, the staff, the volunteers and the sponsors for a really great air show. There's no doubt that you have one of the finest air museums in the country. I'm proud to be a member.”

“I visited Planes of Fame about 3 years ago. If I had to offer a one-word description it would be "Wow!" ... I was wearing my VFM uniform shirt and ID badge (and) the folks at Planes of Fame welcomed me like I was a personal friend!”
Internet post from Texas
“I visited Planes of Fame a week ago and was highly impressed. I've been a docent at the National Air and Space Museum (Garber facility) for the past 26 years, and I can truthfully say that your museum doesn't take a back seat to the national museum at all. Why? Because your aircraft are where they out to be- in real airplane hangars AND most of them FLY... I could go on and on. For years I've been telling visitors on my tours to go to Chino if they had the chance. Now I'm going to tell them to MAKE the chance.”
