For Elementary or Intermediate-level Students

An Elementary or Intermediate school visit to the Planes of Fame Air Museum is educational, engaging, and challenging, with just the right amount of fun. We use S.T.E.A.M.-based principles to help students gain a new appreciation of the fascinating world of aviation and the wonder of flight.

Our goal is to inspire young people to dream bigger and reach farther.  Flight is the perfect metaphor to stimulate their potential.

We’ve tailored our program to match grade levels and comprehension skills.  Conducted by the Museum’s team of experienced Education Guides, each visit offers unique opportunities for students to learn through instruction, demonstration, and hands-on exercises.

Your Educational Tour is a great way to enhance classroom instruction.  Students receive an up-close experience with some of the world’s most amazing aircraft.  These engineering and technological marvels have played an important role in shaping our history.  Teachers can use the topics covered during the field trip to stimulate future lessons in critical thinking, science, math, and the creative arts.

Plan Your Visit

An Educational Tour typically runs 90 minutes to two hours.  For the youngest students we recommend a one-hour, fifteen-minute program.

School Field Trips are available Tuesdays through Sundays.

Admission for each student is $5.00, ages 5 thru 14.  For every ten children in your group, we admit one adult chaperone to the Museum free of charge.  Additional adults receive a discounted admission of $12.00 per person.

You may also elect to bring lunch to the Museum.  We will gladly set up tables and chairs for your students to dine in our open-air Atrium.

Booking Your Educational Tour

If possible, we ask that you book your Educational Tour at least two weeks prior to your visit.  Simply complete the following form and submit it to us.  We will send a confirmation of your School Field Trip via email. If your school requires a purchase order for us to invoice against, please indicate this in the Special Requests or Other Notes Section of the Reservation form.  In your confirmation email we will indicate the totals for your visit and we ask that your purchasing department notify us of the Purchase Order number prior to your visit.  We will submit an invoice to your P.O. number for payment processing.

For High School and College-level Students

For our older students, we put more emphasis on aviation and military history as well as the diverse opportunities within the aviation field.  Aircraft are the focal point of these Field Trips and we discuss the design, development and production of aircraft in the collection, their primary and secondary missions, the training of pilots, and historical events that surround their use.  We also discuss career opportunities that currently exist within the aviation and aerospace industries.

Admission for each student is $18.00, ages 15 and older attending as one class.  For every ten students in your group, we admit one adult chaperone to the Museum free of charge.  Additional adults receive a discounted admission of $12.00 per person.
